Choosing the Perfect Diamond Body Jewelry

If you want to make a statement with your appearance, consider diamond body jewelry.

There's no reason why your piercings have to look the same as everyone else's.

Instead you can buy single diamond earrings, diamond nose screws or nose studs, diamond belly rings, diamond ear plugs and jewelry for other intimate body areas.

Even better than this, you can have your jewelry custom-designed and choosing the right diamond is the best way to get started.

This jewelry has to make a statement, so get the best diamond you can afford to stand out from the crowd.

Selecting the Right Stone

So how do you select the right stone for your body jewelry?

One way is to purchase loose diamonds to create exquisite diamond body jewelry. But don't just take anything; think carefully about what kind of diamond you want and use the 4Cs as a guideline.

The 4Cs are:

  • Cut
  • Clarity
  • Carat
  • Color

Diamonds can appear virtually colorless or pale yellow and are graded according to how they appear. The scale runs from D to Z, with the diamonds created up to "I" seeming colorless to most people.

Of course, there are also color diamonds though these are more expensive as they are very rare.

Clarity is about blemishes in the diamond, known in the trade as inclusions. A diamond with no inclusions is described as flawless while one with several may be described as included. Clarity is graded on a six-point scale.

Carat is about the weight of the diamond with one carat being equal to 100 points or 0.2 mg.

Finally, cut refers to how a jeweler cuts a diamond to enhance its reflectivity and brilliance. This too is graded on a scale.

Get an Independent Appraisal

Once you think you have found the right diamond to create your body jewelry, there is one final thing to do before you part with your money. It is wise to get your stone independently appraised so that you can be sure that it matches the description and is worth what you plan to pay for it.

If everything is okay you can purchase the stone and then concentrate on finding the right setting for your diamond.
