Types of Diamonds Many Different Diamonds to Choose From...
Humankind has been fascinated with diamonds for thousands of years. There are all types of diamonds. The word "diamonds" itself means unconquerable, thanks to its amazing hardness. Being made of carbon, the earth's pressure literally squeezes the carbon into this nearly indestructible treasure. Diamonds vary in color and quality.

White Diamonds
White diamonds are the best known, being harvested in mines globally. Some white diamonds have a secondary color, which generally increases the stone's value. It's the white diamond that appears in the vast majority of engagement and wedding jewelry, not to mention as romantic gifts for various holidays and celebrations.
As with any other diamond the cost varies tremendously based on the gem's quality and size.
Pink Diamonds
The rarest types of diamonds by far are pink diamonds. The main mine for pink diamonds is the Argyle mine, which produces the vast majority of the World's pink colored beauties. Only one percent of all diamonds have a pink hue, which is why they're so valuable (not to mention the sheer beauty of this stone, which is far richer in color than pink diamonds from India or Brazil.
Champagne Diamonds
Third in this review are champagne diamonds. As the name implies these have a pale straw color (some getting much darker than that). The intensity of the color contributes to this gem's value greatly. Some champagne diamonds have a secondary pink hue.
Other Natural Diamonds
The remaining types of natural diamonds are yellow, blue and green. Of them green seems to be the lightest shade variable, where blue diamonds can get to the color of sapphires and yellow near a sunny gold.
Simulated Diamonds
As for simulated diamonds, they do not suffer from lack of hardness or diversity. The best known simulated diamond is the cubic zirconia. However, it is denser which means with equal weight it gives a smaller stone weight than that of a diamond. The reason for the commercial production of synthetic diamonds is that the supply of natural diamonds is largely insufficient to meet the demand for treasured natural gemstones. Hence, the natural diamonds are extremely expensive.
Most gem-quality synthetic diamonds are produced using HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) process and are yellow, yellow-orange, yellow-brown, blue, pink and green in color and they hardly exceed 2 ct. Colorless synthetic diamonds are not yet commercially available. Slightly less well known are moissanite stones that have very similar properties to diamonds.
All these variations and specifications can make it difficult to determine if the price on a diamond is accurate. That's why it is always best to make sure you're dealing with a trusted diamond seller who can explain the differences in the types of diamonds and help you make an informed choice.
